Solar Panel Installation

Turn Sunlight
Into Savings.

Rising energy prices have made one thing clear: the less you rely on the grid, the more control you have over your bills. Solar PV lets you generate your own electricity directly from sunlight — reducing what you draw from the grid and, over time, paying for itself many times over.

Princeton Eco Plus designs and installs solar PV systems for homes and businesses across the West Midlands, Worcestershire, and Staffordshire, using high-quality panels and inverters tailored to each property's roof, orientation, and energy needs.

How It Works

From Sunlight To Switch

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels are made up of cells that convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts that DC electricity into alternating current (AC) — the type used by your home's appliances and lighting. Any electricity you generate but don't use immediately can either be stored in a home battery (if fitted) or exported back to the grid, often earning payments through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG).

Solar panels generate electricity throughout daylight hours, even on overcast days, though output is naturally higher in bright, direct sunlight. A well-designed system, correctly sized to your roof and household usage, can offset a substantial portion of your annual electricity consumption.

Without Battery

Exporting Surplus

Unused generation is exported to the grid for a modest SEG payment, then bought back later at full price.

With Battery

Storing Surplus

Surplus generation is stored and used in the evening, so more of your own power goes further.

Want To Store More Of Your Own Power?

Add battery storage to use more of your solar generation in the evening, instead of exporting it for a modest payment and buying it back later.

Why It's Worth It

Benefits Of Solar PV

The less electricity you buy from the grid, the more control you have over your bills — solar is the most direct way to get there.

Lower Electricity Bills

Every kWh you generate and use is a kWh you don't have to buy from your supplier.

Price Protection

Generating your own power reduces your exposure to future increases in electricity tariffs.

Earn From What You Don't Use

Surplus electricity exported to the grid can earn payments through the Smart Export Guarantee.

Reduced Carbon Footprint

Solar is one of the cleanest, most established renewable technologies available for UK homes.

Increased Property Value

Homes with solar PV and a strong EPC rating are increasingly attractive to buyers.

Long System Lifespan

Quality solar panels typically carry 25–30 year warranties, with a working life often well beyond that.

Pairs Well With Battery Storage

Adding a battery lets you use more of your generated electricity in the evening rather than exporting it.

Works In The UK Climate

Modern panels are designed to perform efficiently in typical British weather, not just direct sun.

Getting Installed

How Our Installation Process Works

01

Free Enquiry & Eligibility Check

Tell us about your property and energy usage.

02

Property Assessment

We review your roof orientation, pitch, shading, and available space, either remotely or with a site visit.

03

System Design

We recommend a system size and panel/inverter specification matched to your roof and typical energy consumption.

04

Quotation

You receive a clear, fixed quote before any commitment.

05

Installation

Our qualified engineers install the panels, inverter, and associated wiring, typically completing residential installations within a day.

06

Commissioning & Handover

The system is tested, commissioned, and registered as required, with a full handover explaining how to monitor your system's output.

Pricing

What Affects The Cost

  • 01System size — the number of panels and total kW capacity needed to match your household's usage.
  • 02Roof type and complexity — pitch, orientation, and any unusual roof features can affect installation time and mounting.
  • 03Inverter specification — string inverters versus optimised or micro-inverter setups.
  • 04Battery storage add-on — adding a battery increases upfront cost but improves how much generated electricity you can use.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How many solar panels do I need for my home?

This depends on your roof size and your household's electricity usage — our surveyors calculate this based on your average consumption and available roof space, so you get a system that's neither undersized nor oversized.

Do solar panels work on cloudy days?

Yes. Panels generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunshine, though output is naturally lower on overcast days than on bright, clear ones.

Do I need planning permission for solar panels?

Most residential solar PV installations fall under permitted development rights and don't require planning permission, though listed buildings and certain conservation areas may have additional requirements — we can advise during your survey.

What is the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)?

SEG is a government-backed scheme requiring larger energy suppliers to pay households for surplus renewable electricity exported back to the grid.

Should I add a battery to my solar system?

A battery lets you store surplus daytime generation for use in the evening, which can significantly increase how much of your own generated electricity you actually use, rather than exporting it and buying grid electricity back later.

How long do solar panels last?

Quality solar panels typically come with 20–25 year performance warranties and often continue generating usefully well beyond that period.
